In Eilat’s bird sanctuary (IBRCE) you will find all the information a birder needs as
well as a high diversity of birds. Our friendly staff will direct you along our handicapped friendly
trails. You can enjoy several bird hides and see birds up close at our active
ringing station. We are located 5 min drive or 40 min walk from downtown just north of Eilat next to the Rabin border crossing to Jordan within a natural patch of Acacia woodland and water ponds surrounded by reed beds, salt pans, and a salt marsh thicket. We manage the bird sanctuary’s habitats to provide a large diversity of birds with a safe and reliable stopover site on the northern edge of the Sahara Desert. One can enjoy many species inhabiting the sanctuary year round, with spring and autumn being the most productive with up to 130 species a
day. Variety is the name of the game – you can watch passerines, waders, and raptors
while taking a short walk.
Key species:
Spring: Warblers (Reuppell’s, Subalpine, Menetrie’s, Barred, Olive-tree,
