Yotvata

40 Km north of Eilat, Yotvata is primarily an agriculture mosaic combined with Acacia woodlands and sand dunes. This unique combination attracts many migrants and also few desert specialties mostly during winter, Spring and Autumn. The sewage ponds flanked within thick acacia stands are well worth a visit for waders and other migrants. The thick acacia woodland adjacent the “Old Turkish Police” (west of Rd. 90), is your best chance for the enigmatic Arabian Warbler
alongside with other desert specials and migrants. Along the Jordanian border, the sand dunes attract desert specialties, but one needs to remember that you should not cross the border!

Important facts and logistics
The agricultural fields are private farms owned by the different kibbutz's.
Do not go into any active field or block the dirt roads for agricultural machinery.
The sandy area along the eastern side can be tricky and soft. Take care not to get
stuck in the deep sand and any way, drive only on designated roads.
Along these dunes, crosses the Jordanian border which is concealed with sand in
some parts. Please make sure you are not crossing any fence so you won’t find
yourself in Jordan, practicing Jordanian manners with angry army officers...
Yotvata Inn offers some good food and great ice-creams which can break a
hot day’s routine…
